Assistant Professor, Kevin Byrne earned his doctorate from the City University of New York Graduate Center. As a dramaturg, he had worked on numerous productions, primarily contemporary US theatre and European avant-garde drama. His research interests include African American theatre, blackface and minstrel performance, and popular culture. The subjects of publications and conference presentations include the amateur play publishing industry and Bert Williams. Dr. Byrne was recently named to the Advisory Board of the Journal of American Drama and Theatre.​ Affiliated faculty in Africana Studies.
