Admissions – Prospective Students

Prospective UA students are incoming freshmen and students transferring from another institution, applying to the School of Theatre, Film & Television for their first semester at UA.

Step One

Apply to the University of Arizona

Step Two

Follow the instructions in the pull-down menus below to apply to your chosen degree program.

BA Theatre

The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre does NOT require a separate application to the major. Students interested in BA Theatre need only complete the University of Arizona application, and select “BA Theatre” as their chosen major. If you are accepted to UA, you may begin at UA as a student in BA Theatre.

BA Film & Television

Select and complete the appropriate College of Fine Arts online application based on your incoming student status. Be sure to note the submission deadlines, which are the same as main campus. (May 2, 2022 for freshmen and June 1, 2022 for transfer students).

Fall 2022

  • All incoming Freshman and Transfer students
    After applying to the University of Arizona you will receive an email that will alert you to apply to the College of Fine Arts.

If you have any questions about the application process or requirements, you may contact Ms. Daniela Tascarella by phone at (520) 621-9303, or by email at danielat1@arizona.edu. Please allow at least 30 day before contacting the School regarding the status of your application.

BFA Acting and BFA Musical Theatre

Select and complete the appropriate College of Fine Arts online application based on your incoming student status, and based on which degree program (Acting or Musical Theatre) you plan to pursue.

  • All incoming Freshman and Transfer students
    After applying to the University of Arizona you will receive an email that will alert you to apply to the College of Fine Arts.

Specific audition information may be found at the Audition Information page. 

Pre-screens are due on December 1st.

BFA Design & Technical Production

Select and complete the appropriate College of Fine Arts online application based on your incoming student status. Be sure to note the submission deadlines, which are the same as main campus. (May 2, 2022 for freshmen and June 1, 2022 for transfer students).

Fall 2022

  • All incoming Freshman and Transfer students
    After applying to the University of Arizona you will receive an email that will alert you to apply to the College of Fine Arts.

The online application will require you to submit a portfolio of no more than ten examples of your work that demonstrate artistic ability or technical skills relevant to theatrical design and production. This may include photographs, drawings, paintings, audio recordings, any artwork or technical drawings. You will also be asked for a resume, a reference, and an essay telling us why you wish to study theatre design and technical production. The statement is evaluated on the following three criteria:

  • The interest and awareness the applicant has of theatrical design and technical production.
  • The apparent understanding the applicant has of university-level training in theatrical design and technical production.
  • The reasons as to why the applicant wishes to study at the UA School of Theatre, Film & Television.
