Minors
The School of Theatre, Film and Television offers four minors including Film and Television (main campus and Arizona Online), Theatre Arts and our new Musical Theatre minor. The theatre minors do not require applications nor auditions, but the Film and Television minor does. The Film and Television minor is 21 units, but by taking one more core course students have access to production courses. Theatre Arts is a flexible minor that allows specialization in different areas of theatre. Unlike the Theatre Arts minor, the Musical Theatre minor has a focus on dancing and singing with one required acting course. See below for more information on each minor.
Film & Television Minor
The 24-unit Film & Television Minor is only available to current University of Arizona students. In this writing-intensive minor, students gain knowledge in film and industry studies and film production. Application is required to become a Film & Television minor, and is available twice a year, for Fall and Spring entry. To declare the minor, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be a current U of A student, registered for class(es) during the semester you apply to the minor.
- You must have a minimum U of A cumulative GPA of 2.5.
- You must attend one of the minor information sessions (below).
- You must be accepted to the minor by the Film & Television faculty, by following the application instructions given at the information session.
- Please email Daniela Tascarella after going through the information session for an application packet.
MINOR INFORMATION SESSION
APPLICATION SUBMISSION
The application requirements for the minor include an application form, a statement of intent, and a response to a personal insight question. The instructions for submission of the FTV minor application will be given at the minor information sessions (above).
The application deadline for the FTV minor for spring 2027 admission is December 1, 2026.

FTV COURSE INFORMATION
Most FTV courses that count in the FTV minor are not available to students in Fall and Spring semesters, unless and until they have been accepted and declared in the FTV minor — exceptions are FTV 301, FTV 325, FTV 352, FTV 375, and FTV 400, which (if offered) are available to all UA students via UAccess registration.
FTV courses offered in Summer sessions (including FTV 100A, FTV 100B, FTV 200, and FTV 375, which all count in the FTV minor) are available to all UA students via UAccess registration.
ARIZONA ONLINE FILM & TELEVISION MINOR
The 21-unit Arizona Online Film & Television Minor is only available to current AZO students. To declare the minor, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be a current U of A student, registered for class(es) during the semester you apply to the minor.
- You must have a minimum U of A cumulative GPA of 2.5.
Please email Hannah Meyer if your last name falls under A-L or Jessica Maerz if your last name falls under M-Z after going through the information session.

Musical Theatre Minor
The 21-unit Musical Theatre Minor is only available to current University of Arizona students. Ignite your passion for the stage with U of A’s Musical Theatre minor. The minor in Musical Theatre will develop and refine skills in acting, dance and voice to create a “triple threat” performer. Students will take courses in performance classes in various styles including acting, basic musicianship, group voice, scene study, Musical Theatre dance styles, professional development, and Musical Theatre history.
This minor can be combined with any major.

Theatre Minor
The 19-unit Theatre Minor is only available to current University of Arizona students. This is a broad-based minor intended to provide a basic understanding of theatre, and includes courses in all areas within theatre (acting, theatre appreciation, design/technology, etc.). Application is not required to become a Theatre minor; however, to declare the minor, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be a current U of A student
- You must have a minimum U of A cumulative GPA of 2.0

Arts Administration Minor
The Arts Administration minor is a dynamic, 18-unit/six-course program that empowers students to develop essential skills for managing and leading in the arts world. Offered through the College of Fine Arts in partnership with the Eller College of Management, the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, and other campus partners, this program combines creativity with business acumen to equip students for careers in arts organizations, including nonprofits and other cultural enterprises.
Students will gain practical, hands-on experience in key areas such as fundraising, programming, community engagement, advocacy, financial management, and marketing, with a focus on applying these skills in real-world arts settings. The curriculum is designed to bridge the gap between creative passion and professional expertise, ensuring our graduates are well-prepared to tackle the challenges of the arts industry.

Arts Administration Practical or Individualized Study (3 credits)
An arts Internship or other practical study supports professional networking and experiential learning opportunities within professional arts settings including theaters, galleries, museums, performing arts centers, arts festivals, and new media festivals. Students are encouraged to seek out an internship that best meets their interests.

Internships
FA 493 Internship is open not only to arts administration students, but to any student interested in exploring careers with arts organizations and gaining practical experience. Students must contact the internship advisor in order to register for this course, ideally prior to beginning their internship search. Please see the Internship Guide below for more information.
