Film & Television Facilities

Marshall Building

The Marshall Building houses the Film & Television program’s administrative and faculty offices, production and post-production labs, conference rooms and classrooms, in addition to Theatre Studies faculty offices and the Hanson Film Institute. Set directly west of the UA Main Gate, the Marshall Building is located among retail shops and a diverse selection of restaurants.

FTV Production Services

FTV Production Services is the equipment resource for all Film & Television students enrolled in production courses. Students have access to a range of cameras from the Canon Rebel T3i to the Canon C300 and Blackmagic Production 4K cameras. Sound equipment includes; Tascam HD-P2 and DR100, Sound Devices 702T, and Zoom F8 with FRC-8 Portable Mixer/Controllers, Shure F33 mixers and directional and wireless microphones. Students also have access to professional grip and lighting equipment, rounding out the tools they need to realize their creative visions.

Production Studio 108

Production Studio 108 is a 1,000 square-foot space featuring a lighting grid, a cyclorama, and acoustical sound dampening for improved sound recording. It serves as a teaching space to demonstrate fundamental production techniques such as directing, lighting, green screen, ADR and Foley. It also serves as a sound stage for student projects. Studio 108 adjoins the teaching classroom in Harvill 104.

HANSON POST-PRODUCTION LAB

The Hanson Post-Production Lab (HPL) has 20 Apple computers networked to a server and is available to students 24/7 working on production assignments. Available software includes among others; Adobe Creative Cloud, Avid’s Media Composer and Pro Tools, and Final Draft. The HPL also serves as a teaching space for students and includes a teaching station with media projection for instruction.

ADVANCED EDIT SUITES

Advanced Edit Suite I (AES I, AES II and AES III) are private editing rooms which feature the Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVinci Resolve, and Avid’s Media Composer and Pro Tools. The rooms are equipped with dual computer screens, mixers and speakers, creating a professional atmosphere for enhanced sound and picture editing capabilities.

MIX TO PIX

The Mix to Pix room (MTP) is a sound mixing studio that has an adjoining audio dialog replacement (ADR) room. It features Avid’s Pro Tools, and is equipped with dual computer screens, Mackie mixers, M-Audio speakers and acoustical sound dampening, creating a professional atmosphere for enhanced mixing sound capabilities.
