“Bringing these exclusive visiting guest opportunities to our students has been incredibly valuable,” says Professor Jacob Bricca. “Maegan Houang, WGA and Heidi Higginbotham each had one-on-one consultations with our senior directors and producers after reviewing their scripts and helped shape the trajectory of these films in positive ways.”
“Other guests like Prof. Charles Musser from Yale University spoke about his research into the productions of several documentaries about COVID-19, bringing specialized knowledge to our students that made their projects on these films much more nuanced and successful. Bringing my former student Jen Lame, ACE (Oppenheimer) to class was perhaps the highlight of the semester for students in my Editing Fundamentals class (and the 20 other students who showed up that day…) Each of these speakers and many more brought the classroom alive and helped to let students really understand the industries that they will soon be entering.”
Many of these visits were made possible by funding from the Hanson FilmTV Institute, CFA Small Grants, and the FTV Production Area Guest Artist Fund.
