University of Arizona School of Theatre, Film & Television senior Shrusti Jagadish was recently hired as a News Producer at KVOA-TV Channel 4 News. Shrusti’s position has her in charge of the 4 o’clock news for the local station.
Currently a senior in our BA Film & Television Producing & Studies program, Shrusti is balancing her studies alongside her new position. She credits her classes and professors with helping instill additional confidence that helped her decide to accept the job.
“I think my classes and my professors at the U of A were very helpful in my journey for a job as I believe that without everything I learned in school i wouldn’t have felt confident enough to accept this position and be confident in my skills, especially since I’ll be doing this full-time job at the same time as college.”
When asked about the most rewarding part of her position, and where she hopes her career will take her, Shrusti said: “I think the most rewarding thing to me is the fact I get to have a say in what stories are told. So, in a way, I have a voice in what issues and topics are presented to the public. I think that the most rewarding thing you can receive is having your thoughts be viewed by a larger audience … My hope is to someday work as either an executive producer in news and oversee scheduling and planning stories or continue as a producer and write the stories that get broadcast on the news.”
