Tucson, AZ – Arizona Repertory Theatre presents The Last Night of Ballyhoo, the Tony Award Winning Play by Alfred Uhry, November 9 – November 24, 2019 in the Tornabene Theatre located at 1025 N. OliveRoad (UA campus located near the SE corner of Park Avenue and Speedway Boulevard).

The Last Night of Ballyhoo is directed by UA Assistant Professor and ART Artistic Director Hank Stratton. Set in 1939 as Hitler prepares to invade Poland, Atlanta’s close-knit Jewish community prepares for the premiere of Gone with the Wind and Ballyhoo, the social event of the year. The Freitag family hopes that the party will be a chance for their daughters to meet their future husbands—but when their uncle brings home his new employee, a handsome Eastern European bachelor from Brooklyn, everyone must confront their own prejudices, desires and beliefs. The Last Night of Ballyhoo won the 1997 Tony Award for Best Play.

Ticket prices range from $15 to $32. Discounts available for seniors, students, military, UA employee/alumni and groups of 10 or more. Tickets can be purchased at tickets.arizona.edu, by calling the College of Fine Arts Box Office at (520) 621-1162 or in person at 1025 N. Olive Road. A pre-show discussion is scheduled on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 12:45pm in the Harold Dixon Directing Studio (Drama Bldg. Rm 116). This discussion will be led by Dr. Thomas Kovach, a professor from the UA Department of German Studies.
