Overview
The School of Theatre, Film & Television prepares students for careers through curriculum offerings, internships and opportunities that help students build their career paths. Our visiting artist program brings industry professionals and scholars into the classroom, providing students’ knowledge about current practices and opportunities to expand their professional network.
Film & Television Internship and Early Career Program
Film & Television students are required to take a Professional Practices course in preparation for their internship. Through the Internship Program students receive personalized career mentoring by faculty to assist in internship placement.
TFTV Visiting Artists
TFTV welcomes into the classroom scholars and entertainment industry guests. Students get direct access to professionals for career advice and learn about what their careers entail.
Film Festivals and Awards
TFTV is one of the few film schools to offer students and emerging alumni assistance developing strategies for film festivals, including advice on film marketing packages, publicity around official selections, and media coaching ahead of festival attendance and interviews. In the last four years TFTV films have earned nearly 100 official film festival selections.
Student Engagement and Career Development provides students with resources, guidance, and experiences to build career-ready skills, explore career paths, and connect with employers for internships, jobs, and professional development.

Notable TFTV Alumni
The College of Fine Arts boasts an impressive array of alumni who have excelled across creative industries. Scott Stuber led Neflix’s original films, Brad Slater represents major stars like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Tyler Gillett directed two Scream movies. John Hughes and Jerry Bruckheimer, film legends. Lindsay Utz edited “American Factory,” Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish docs, while Kristen Wiig, Michael Biehn, and Ben Crawford have shined in acting. Alumni like Amy Duddleston, Sierra Teller Ornelas, John Matter, Christina Oh and Paul Pennolino continue to break new ground in television and films. And Craig T. Nelson, Mr. Incredible himself, is a TFTV alumnus.
Medici Scholars
The Medici Circle supports talented young artists and scholars with a $1,000 award to pursue educational projects in the summer. For many, these opportunities would be financially unattainable without the award, making these valuable summer intensives possible. In the summer of 2024, over 60 students qualified.
Haiden Pederson, a senior BFA musical theatre major, completed an eight-week Shakespeare intensive at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). She trained in acting, movement, voice and stage combat, and performed as Maria in “Twelfth Night” and Old Thorney/Cuddy Banks in “The Witch of Edmonton.” Pederson worked with esteemed LAMDA faculty and international students.
Arts Administration Minor
The Arts Administration Minor is an 18-unit program that equips students with skills in fundraising, marketing, programming, and community engagement for creative organizations. Partnered with Eller College of Management, College of Social and Behavioral Sciences and other colleges, it offers practical coursework and career insights through internships and professional experiences in theaters, galleries, festivals, and more, preparing students for roles in non-profit and market-driven arts organizations.
