Next week TFTV Associate Professor of Practice Kevin Black produces, directs, and stars in Fine Revolution, his cinema/theatre interpretation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, set against the perils of the 4th Industrial Revolution. The immersive production will take place at BRINK MEDIA’s new art space, Pidgin Palace Arts.
Black will star alongside a national cast of veteran television and stage actors including Nikki Crawford (NCIS, United States of Al, Netflix’s Selena), David MacDonald (Person of Interest), John Kozeluh (The Dan Band), Betsey Kruse Craig and TFTV’s David Morden and Professor Emeritus Harold Dixon. The cast is aided by a multimedia creative team of TFTV’s Matt Marcus, Brent Gibbs, Alex Leyton, Craig Huston and many film and theatre students.
In a recent Tucson Weekly feature, Black reflected on his love for the Shakespearean play. “The more you look at it, the more layered it is,” he says. “It’s just this fascinating combination of incredibly exciting revenge tragedy with all these explorations and considerations of what it means to be alive.”
