ABC15 recently interviewed student filmmakers and actors from the University of Arizona School of Theatre, Film & Television to discuss their films premiering at I Dream in Widescreen. Filmmakers Pablo Perez and Mackenzie Giguere and BFA Acting/Musical Theatre senior Vaune Suitt talked about how the pandemic and current events impacted the production of this year’s films as well as their themes.
“I think that everyone just really tried to push themselves with COVID restrictions we had. We did have to work around what does it look like to have characters in masks versus not in masks, what does it look like to have characters that are familial versus strangers, what does it look like to shoot in public versus in a home?” remarked TFTV senior Mackenzie Giguere.
I Dream in Widescreen 2021 will take place concurrently in person and online: the in-person event will take place on Saturday, May 8, at the Cactus Drive-In, and will stream online for a global audience from May 8-22 through The Loft Cinema.
