We’re so proud of School of Theatre, Film & Television alum and producer Christina Oh (’09) for her Best Picture Academy Award nomination for Minari. Congratulations to Christina, writer-director Lee Isaac Chung, and the entire cast and crew on last night’s Academy Award nominations and win!
Minari follows a Korean-American family that moves to an Arkansas farm in search of their own American Dream. The film was nominated for 6 Academy Awards, including Best Motion Picture, Best Actor, and Best Achievement in Directing – and won Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role by actor Yuh-Jung Youn.
After studying film producing at the School of Theatre, Film & Television, Christina worked for a decade at Plan B Entertainment, starting as co-president Dede Gardner’s assistant. Her other producing credits include Okja, Vice, Ad Astra, The King, and The Last Black Man in San Francisco. The Hollywood Reporter recently interviewed her alongside writer-director Lee Isaac Chung and actor Steven Yeun on the desire to “tell something honest” while emphasizing that the film’s themes are broader than just the Asian American experience.
