CC Dances the Go-Go, the latest short film by writer/director Erin Buckley and produced by School of Theatre, Film & Television Adjunct Faculty member Roweena Mackay, will screen as part of the 29th annual Arizona International Film Festival, April 14-25, 2021. The film follows Nicky, an aspiring actress, during a night at the local go-go bar where she Nicky encounters the woman of her dreams.
CC Dances the Go-Go was filmed in Tucson, AZ in June 2019 and premiered at Frameline in San Francisco in June 2020. The film went on to win the Alan Ira Dusowitz Award for Best Emerging Filmmaker of Short Film at the Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival and has been Officially Selected by festivals nationally and internationally, including Out on Film, the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival, Oslo/Fusion International Film Festival, Queer Screen Film Fest, and Reeling: The Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival, among others.
The film’s crew features the talents of multiple TFTV alumni including Chance Roberts (Director of Photography), Pancho Oritz (First Assistant Camera), Hasan Taleb (Assistant Camera), Galen McCaw (Sound), Matt Cole (Gaffer), Brittney Olsen (Grip), Jalon Jackson (Wardrobe Supervisor), Sean Phelan (Best Boy), Destiny Moreno (Best Boy), and Nolan Veneklasen (Sound).
CC Dances the Go-Go will screen on Wednesday, April 21 at 7:30pm in the Club Congress Plaza. It will be screening virtually on Friday, April 23 at 1:00pm through the AZ Int’l Film Festival Site.
