You’re Invited to participate in an interactive presentation by multimedia artist James Scruggs on November 2, 2020 from Noon to 1:30pm via Zoom at arizona.zoom.us/j/99972344987.
James Scruggs creates large scale, topical, multi-media performance pieces. His work is often virtual, fully immersive and interactive; usually focused on race, racism, supremacy, and gender politics. His most recent work 3/Fifths SupremacyLand was a fully immersive dystopian theme park that explored the historic weaponization of black skin. www.jamesscruggs.com
James asks that participants please come to the event with the following:
- A short paragraph about:
– a tiny decision which turned out to be much more important and/or consequential over time.
– someone who you worked with who disappeared or died unexpectEDly. - Write for yourself:
You will not be asked to share your work, so please be brutally honest.
The presentation will be divided into three parts. James will first share some videos and discuss his body of work. Then he’ll perform a monolog from Dark Bravado/ 9/11, A Transmedia Work. The presentation will round out with an interactive discussion.
