Update on COVID-19

March 19, 2020

The health and well-being of our community is the top priority at the University of Arizona and for our entire School of Theatre, Film & Television community. Thank you for your understanding during this challenging time.

Following the recommendations from public health officials regarding slowing the spread of the COVID-19 virus, and in conjunction with University of Arizona’s decision to limit campus operations, The School of Theatre, Film & Television has made the decision to move all classes online through the end of this Spring semester. We have also cancelled or postponed all performances and events through May, starting with the cancellation of the Arizona Repertory Theatre season presentations of The Two Gentlemen of Verona and The Light in the Piazza.

We will waive our current policy and issue refunds to those who request it, but for those concerned about the financial impact on our educational resources we will gladly convert your ticket dollars to a direct, tax-deductible, donation to the School of Theatre, Film & Television. Your contribution will go directly toward our students’ education, and we thank you in advance for your consideration.

Please reach out to us at boxoffice@cfa.arizona.edu or (520) 621-1162 if you have questions or would like to make arrangements.

In coordination with the College of Fine Arts and guidance from the University of Arizona, all TFTV facilities will be closed from Tuesday March 17 through the end of this semester. This includes Computer Labs, MARPL, all Theaters and Shops, and classrooms.

Student Resources

For any questions or concerns specific to online learning, we encourage Film & Television students to reach out to Associate Professor Michael Mulcahy, and Theatre students to reach out to Assistant Professor Hank Stratton. For all other concerns, TFTV students are encouraged to contact our Senior Academic Advisor Christina Beasley.

Now that the School of Theatre, Film & Television has moved to online learning through the remainder of this semester, we want students to know that there is support during this time of transition.

If you are a University of Arizona student struggling with fear, stress and anxiety related to COVID-19, and would like to talk with a mental health counselor, please call Counseling & Psych Services (CAPS) at (520) 621-3334. Telebehavioral health services are available by secure zoom and/or phone.

For a list of services, resources and apps on offer from CAPS, go here or visit https://health.arizona.edu/coping-stress-related-covid-19.
