Tucson, Arizona – The UA School of Theatre, Film & Television is proud to announce its sixth Undergraduate Research Symposium, Thursday, April 12 and Friday, April 13, 2018.  This annual event presents original research by our Bachelor of Arts students in a panel format and invites scholars from outside The University of Arizona to share their own work and methods with the UA community in two keynote speeches.

Students, faculty and the public are invited to this symposium for BA Film Producing/Studies & Theatre Studies students. On April 12th, two keynote guest speakers will kick off the event with a pair of special talks. Professor Emily Carman, Associate Professor and Film Studies Program Coordinator at Chapman University, will give a talk titled, “Independent Stardom in Hollywood: Uncovering Female Agency in the Archives,” followed by Professor Peter Zazzali, Professor of Theatre Arts at the University of Kansas, who will speak on “Acting Down Under: Culture, Society, and Politics in AustralAsian Actor Training.” This special event will be held at 4pm in the Center for Creative Photography auditorium and is free and open to all in the university and community.

On April 13th, Theatre, Film & Television juniors & seniors in our BA programs will present their own research to the public for the first time, with Professors Carman & Zazzali serving as respondents. The daylong event begins at 10am in the Silver & Sage Room inside Old Main.
