Applications are now open for the School of Theatre, Film & Television’s 2026 Sundance Film Festival Student Trip

September 18, 2025
Ruben Reynoso, Cailan Compierchio, Julia Franco and Carlos Montes attend “Making the First Feature” at Sundance 2025.

Senior Film & Television BA and BFA majors are invited to apply for TFTV’s fourth annual Sundance Film Festival Student Trip, taking place January 23-30, 2026.

The purpose of the trip is to provide students with an intensive, insider’s experience of the Festival, with the aim of helping to advance post-graduation careers through work experience at one of the film & television industry’s most important film festivals. Students will also have the opportunity to expand their industry networks and gain knowledge of the film festival landscape and how it fits into the lifecycle of film and television projects.

Students will attend film screenings and have access to events, panels and networking socials, as well as roundtable discussions with professionals at the Festival.

Round trip travel to and from Salt Lake City, UT, shared room accommodation in a multi-bedroom condo with two faculty chaperones, festival accreditation, meals and ground transportation in Utah for a total of ten (10) students will be fully funded by the school’s Hanson FilmTV Endowment.

A Festival accreditation package will include the following:

  • A Festival accreditation package will include the following:10 tickets to in-person premieres and repeat screenings with early access to ticket selections before general public single-film ticket sales
  • Five free redeemable vouchers for online film tickets only — presented by Adobe
  • Access to Ignite package-holder events, panels, networking socials, receptions and more
  • All online Explorer Pass benefits, including Short Film and Indie Episodic programs
  • Students will also be accredited as official volunteers at the festival and will volunteer for shifts totaling 24 hours.
  • Additional activities will include:
  • Screenings, roundtables and meet-and-greet opportunities with filmmakers and professionals conducting business at Sundance to learn more about what they do at the Festival

Accepted students can also earn one unit of academic credit.
