The School of Theatre, Film & Television is now offering a new Musical Theatre minor. The 21-credit minor will allow students at the University of Arizona to become a “triple threat” performer as they develop and refine their skills in acting, dance and voice. Students will be able to take courses in performance classes in various styles including acting, basic musicianship, group voice, scene study, Musical Theatre dance styles, professional development, and Musical Theatre history. All students in the minor will be eligible to audition for any of the shows in the TFTV Performance Season – such as the spring musical production of Jerry’s Girls.
“The new Musical Theatre minor is an exciting way for us to continue our strong Musical Theatre classes with students across campus,” says TFTV’s Associate Director and Musical Theatre area head Christie Kerr. “The 21-credit minor gives students the flexibility to have a major of their choosing as well as solid training in Musical Theatre. It offers courses in foundational skills, core curriculum, and electives so students can choose what serves them as performers. These students will also be able to use those skills as they audition for shows in our TFTV Performance Season. I’m excited that we can begin training these students this Fall!”
This minor can be combined with any major.
