The University of Arizona School of Theatre, Film & Television (TFTV) proudly congratulates alum Scott Stuber (’92), a producer of Frankenstein, on the film’s Academy Award® nomination for Best Picture.
The 2026 Oscar nominations were announced on January 22, and Frankenstein – produced by Guillermo del Toro, J. Miles Dale, and Scott Stuber – earned multiple nominations, including Best Picture, marking a milestone in Stuber’s producing career.
An accomplished film producer and former chairman of Netflix Films, Stuber has been instrumental in bringing high-profile and award-winning projects to the screen for several decades. During his tenure at Netflix, he oversaw films such as Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman, Academy Award® winner Marriage Story, Bird Box, and Alfonso Cuarón’s ROMA, which earned three Academy Awards. Prior to Netflix, Stuber founded and ran Bluegrass Films, producing hits including Ted, Central Intelligence, and Safe House. As a former vice chairman of worldwide production at Universal Studios, he was responsible for films such as A Beautiful Mind, 8 Mile, Meet the Parents and its follow-up films, as well as the Bourne and Fast & Furious franchises.
2025 was a busy year for Stuber. Along with Frankenstein, he produced Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, the biographical musical drama starring Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen. Frankenstein represents Stuber’s first Academy Award® nomination as a credited producer since graduating from TFTV.
Frankenstein’s recognition extends beyond Best Picture; the film garnered nominations across nine Oscar categories including Cinematography, Sound, Production Design, Adapted Screenplay, Original Score, Makeup and Hairstyling, Costume Design, and Supporting Actor for Jacob Elordi.
The 98th Academy Awards ceremony will take place March 15, 2026, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
We celebrate Scott’s outstanding achievement and are proud to see a TFTV alum once again recognized at the highest level in the industry.
