This three-day academic field trip to Los Angeles will give selected students an opportunity to engage directly with the history, preservation, and critical study of film and television through visits and conversations with leading scholars, historians, archivists, and other screen-media professionals.
Students will meet with film and television historians and archival and industry professionals, visit a film/television archive, and visit a film-focused museum or cultural institution. The trip is designed for students with a serious academic interest in film and television history, criticism, preservation, archival research, and/or the cultural and historical significance of screen media.
Because space is limited, this is a selective opportunity. Students will be selected based on their academic interests, preparation, demonstrated engagement with film/television studies, and the strength of their application.
