Application Process

BFA Acting and BFA Musical Theatre are available for Fall entry only.

Applying to BFA Acting and/or BFA Musical Theatre is a two-step process, based on your UA status (prospective UA student or current UA student).

Prospective UA Students

STEP ONE

Apply for admission to the University of Arizona.
After you have applied to UA, continue to step two.

STEP TWO

If you plan to audition in person on one of the posted audition dates, please complete an application to the School of Theatre, Film & Television on the College of Fine Arts Online Admissions page where you apply for admissions to the Acting/Musical Theatre program and schedule an on-site audition. This year our Tucson auditions will be in February 2016 (exact dates TBA). Bring your headshot and one-page resume with you to your audition. Your resume should include your name, address, phone number, and e-mail address.

If you cannot attend one of the above audition sites, you can apply for admission to the Acting/Musical Theatre program through Acceptd Do not apply to Acceptd if you are scheduling an in-person audition.

Transfer students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all completed Theatre coursework to be accepted into the major. Transfer students admitted into the BFA in Acting or Musical Theatre will be admitted to the sophomore level in our program

Current UA Students

STEP ONE

Know your audition status:

  • If you are a current Theatre major taking TAR 149 (Acting I) and TAR 151 (Acting II) at UA this year, you will audition in April or May at the end of your Acting II class. The instructor of the class will give you further instructions before the audition.
  • If you have not yet taken TAR 149 and 151, then you must audition during the open auditions in February. Continue to step two.
  • If you have already completed TAR 149 and 151 (either at UA or transferred directly from another school), then you must audition during the open auditions in February. Continue to step two.

STEP TWO

Complete an application to the School of Theatre, Film & Television on the College of Fine Arts Online Admissions page where you apply for admissions to the Acting/Musical Theatre program and schedule an on-site Tucson audition. Bring your headshot and one-page resume with you to your audition. Your resume should include your name, address, phone number, and e-mail address.

To be accepted to the major, you must have a minimum UA cumulative GPA of 2.0, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all completed Theatre coursework.
